What Makes a Good Advertising Wall?

August 2, 2026

The short answer

A good advertising wall is large, visible from a road with steady traffic, unobstructed, structurally suitable, and located on a property whose owner can approve an advertising agreement.

The checklist

  • **Sightline.** Can drivers and pedestrians see the whole wall, from far enough away to read it?
  • **Traffic.** Is there consistent daily traffic, not just occasional?
  • **Size and shape.** Is there a usable rectangle large enough for a readable message?
  • **Surface.** Brick, block, stucco and metal all behave differently for installation.
  • **Obstructions.** Trees, power lines, parked trailers and neighboring buildings all matter.
  • **Orientation and light.** A wall in permanent shadow reads differently than one in full sun.
  • **Local requirements.** Sign rules vary by city and by zoning.
  • **Property approval.** Nothing happens without it.
